New Years 2005

Here's a few random snaps and movies from New Years 2005 - 2006 in Los Angeles; at some crazy party that we found at the last minute when "Giant Villiage" was cancelled due to rain. For a "backup" New Years party, it rocked!

The totally up-for-it crowd goes off

Hey, check this out. Roll your mouse over this image - see those two glowing lights? I'd
recognise those anywhere. Those are 15" Apple Powerbooks! I'd heard that the big
DJ's weren't using records anymore, but spinning directly from Powerbooks? When I got home
I did a little research and even downloaded the demo; let me tell you, any idiot can be a DJ now,
and a far better one than I'll ever be with my old dusty Technics 1200's.The program that
Paul is using is most likely one called Traktor, and it's absolutely unreal. Push a button and it
automatically beatmatches tracks. Well, I guess I can't really get too mad, it wasn't like we
were real musicians anyhow.

Sure does take a bit of the magic away, though.

This girl seemed to really like that flashing light. I wonder what
she found so interesting about it?

Aaah, I haven't been at a good glow-stick party in YEARS!

Powerbooks or no, Paul Van Dyk was throwing down some SERIOUS shit. He had the crowd
ripping up the arena with a set of totally awesome tracks.

Fancy-Dancy fireworks and everything!

Now it's time for Judge Jules, who was playing some seriously old stuff. Like, "Age of Love",
which I bought as a CD single in like 1992. THAT kinda old. It was awesome, though,
totally vintage grooves.

Jules was a total goof, he kept yelling at the audience and dancing around. He's a big, fun, nerd.

"Who lost a set of car keys?"

Here's me and the lovely Heather breakin' out some dance moves.

Marcus Schultz, star of the much loved Proton Radio, takes to the stage.

That's it! It's 4am and my old achey bones are tired and my hoofs are beat.
another loud, trance filled New Years complete!
